Suddenly (In Walked Bud)

I've known Kirk for quite a long time. It was a pleasure to go out and hear him play bass last week, and we captured a few tunes for the coffeehouse.

The song is Thelonius Monk's "In Walked Bud" but if you sing it, you call it "Suddenly."

Corina, Corina

I knew we needed some new guest performances around here and the magical mystical Internet delivers. My Cousin Syd in the great state of Tennessee sends this great version of Corina, Corina.

I always liked hearing Taj Mahal do this. Syd discovered it on a Steppenwolf Live album when he was a lad. Great tune -- enjoy!

La Vie En Rose

Edith Piaf's classic, La Vie En Rose. I started using the "Kindhearted Woman" intro and thought if I was going to play it as a blues, I better get out the telecaster.

Misty

I'm my own guest this week. I found some old video laying around that my friend Byurhan had shot with his new camera. He bought it when he was visiting from Ireland 2003-4, sometime around then. Here's Errol Garner's Misty:

It is "our song" and it is fun to see the old house and my lovely bride's clapping with two hands. Can't say I remember the shirt -- but it goes with the Cinema Verite, n'est ce pas?
